About Us

John Petty has been a practicing physician for 44 years. He and his wife Pam accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord in John’s first year of medical school in 1972. John and Pam have been married 52 years, and they have three children and nine grandchildren. Their youngest son, Jared, is the pastor of the church where John and Pam attend. 

John’s passion is learning what God wants to teach us through the Bible. His primary goal has always been to learn from God, not necessarily teach others. However, the more he learned from God, the more others wanted him to share that information with them. He has been sharing Bible studies with others for over 25 years. Over that time span, John has taught at several churches. When time limitations prevented him from returning to a church to teach additional studies, they asked him to film his studies on DVD so that they and other churches could benefit from them. “God’s Hope For You” is his first DVD teaching series. When one of the pastors at his church recommended that he formally begin a teaching ministry, John Petty Discipleship Ministries was started.
